Nick Saban had to ‘straighten out’ Miss Terry for ‘relief syndrome’ and looking ahead to Auburn

Nick Saban is dealing with rat poison in his own home, and the Alabama coach laughed Thursday about how he had to “straighten out” Miss Terry.

Saban told “The Pat McAfee Show” Miss Terry was stricken with the syndrome Sunday, a day after No. 8 Alabama’s 42-28 win over LSU.

“I had to straighten her out this week with relief syndrome, too,” he explained. “I wake up on Sunday morning, and she looks up at me and says, ‘Man, it’s going to be hard playing at Auburn.’ I said, ‘What are you talking about? Are you kidding me? We play Kentucky this week. Then, we have Chattanooga the next week. We’ll worry about that when we get to that.

“I said, ‘What do you think about that? I said you have relief syndrome like everybody else. It’s pervasive. The fans have it. Everybody has it. We can’t have it. We got to get focused on what’s in front of us right now.”

Saban has referenced “relief syndrome” in and around his team but never home. Relief syndrome is when people get relieved with where they are and take their feet off the gas. It was a talking point for Saban after Alabama’s win over Arkansas.

Miss Terry became a topic of conversation because McAfee shared he gets a lot of feedback about her popularity among the Crimson Tide fan base, and everyone wants to know her opinion on the daily banter of Alabama football.

The comment prompted Saban’s response.

Auburn, meanwhile, has won two straight SEC games as it strives for bowl eligibility. The Tigers heads to Arkansas on Saturday.
